What is stored locally

Marking places writes to localStorage in your browser. Refresh keeps the map. There is no PlacesLit account. Clearing site data on this device clears the working map. Shared links already created stay on the server.

What a /s link is

Copy share link creates an 8-character id and stores the map (US and world statuses) in Cloudflare D1. The URL looks like placeslit.com/s/abcdefgh. Anyone who has that URL can open an editable copy of the map. The page is published with noindex, nofollow and robots.txt disallows /s/. It will not be listed in the sitemap.

What not to put in a title

The map is the page. Don’t put secrets, home addresses, or private itineraries in a share title — anyone with the link, and any app that fetches the Open Graph card, can see the geography you marked.
