What counts as visiting a place?
You decide. PlacesLit does not require a passport stamp, a night slept, or a photo.
The product has three brushes, not a hidden audit. Visited (gold) means you’ve been there. Lived (off-white) means you lived there and still counts toward US /50. Want (dashed gold) is still ahead and never pads the score.

- You decide. PlacesLit does not verify tickets, nights, or borders. If it counts for you, mark Visited.
- What is Visited vs Lived vs Want?
- Visited (gold) means you’ve been there. Lived (off-white) means you lived there — it still counts toward US /50. Want (dashed gold) is a place you intend to go and does not count toward /50 or “been” countries.
- Can I change a status later?
- Yes. Pick the brush in the top HUD and tap the place again. Tapping the same status clears it.
Same brushes on the world map. D.C. is a special case on the US scoreboard — it never counts as a state.
